Careful cleanup

Rodent droppings cleanup.

Mice in the garage, the pantry or the cabin? Droppings should never be swept or vacuumed. We clean them up the careful way, following CDC guidance.

Why you shouldn't do it with a broom

The CDC says: "Don't vacuum or sweep rodent urine, droppings, or nesting materials. This can cause tiny droplets containing viruses to get into the air."

How we handle it

  • Air the space out before cleanup begins, as the CDC recommends
  • Wet droppings and nesting material thoroughly with an EPA-registered disinfectant and let it soak for the time on the label
  • Remove the waste with gloved hands, never with a broom or vacuum
  • Clean and disinfect the surrounding surfaces, then test them
We clean up after rodents. Keeping them out is a job for a pest control company, and we recommend you have one seal entry points first.
